Outline of Final Research Achievements

The final particle used in dialogue is also found in early modern Edo. Some of these final particles are used alone, while others are used in combination. Also, when such final particles are used in combination, there is an order. In other words, it can be said that there is a certain system. However, it is not clear whether the final particles of early modern Edo are accepted in order when they are used in combination. The final particle seems to have its own meaning. Therefore, in this study, we believe that the reason why the final particle forms a certain system when it is accepted is related to the basic meaning of each final particle, and clarified the relationship between the system of the final particle and the basic meaning of each final particle.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は、文末に用いられている江戸語の終助詞が相互承接する際に承接順による一定の体系があるが、その承接順の体系と終助詞が持つそれぞれの意味との関係を明らかにした。また、承接順による江戸語の終助詞の体系を終助詞が持つ基本的な意味関係から検討を行い、江戸語終助詞の体系を一部修正を行ったものである。このように江戸語終助詞の体系を明らかにしようとする研究は日本語史にみられないもので、研究史上重要な位置を示す。また、現代語の終助詞の研究にも役に立つものであると思われる。
