Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study aimed to design a Japanese language teacher training program that incorporates tandem learning. Specifically, (1) examined issues in the acquisition of qualities and skills required of Japanese language teachers, (2) designed a tandem learning program to facilitate the acquisition of these qualities and skills, and (3) the practice and measurement of effectiveness of tandem learning between Japanese students in a Japanese language teacher training program and Japanese learners. The results of an analysis of Japanese language classes using FLint System showed that tandem learning may promote teaching behavior that leads to increased interaction in the classroom.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

タンデム学習に関する研究においては，これまで「互恵性」「学習者オートノミー」に関する研究が中心であったが，本研究において，教授者と学習者，双方の立場を経験することができるというタンデムの特徴に着目し，日本語教育人材に求められる資質・能力の習得に部分的に有効であることを示したことは、学術的意義があると考える。また，日本語教員養成課程履修生を対象としたタンデムを組み込んだ新たな養成プログラムの実践およびその効果を示したことは，実践力のある日本語教育人材の育成が急務となっている現状を踏まえると、社会的な意義があると考える。
