Outline of Final Research Achievements

Anxiety that enhances attention and promotes learning behavior in test-taking situations is termed facilitating anxiety. Existing studies in the field of language learning research have predominantly focused on anxiety's inhibitory negative aspects, neglecting its potential facilitating role. Therefore, this project aims to elucidate the nature of facilitating anxiety in the domain of foreign language reading.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本プロジェクトの目的は、外国語読解における促進的不安の性質を解明することであった。コロナ禍の影響により、研究期間内に目的を完全に達成することは叶わなかったが、外国語教育の領域の発展に貢献する成果をあげることはできた。最大の研究成果は、外国語読解における促進的不安の性質を十分に理解するためには、新たな不安尺度の開発が必要となることをデータで示し、学術雑誌で発表したことである。この知見は、今後の外国語読解研究における新たな可能性を示すものとなった。
