Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research, entitled "Reconstructing the History of Kokugaku Political Thought ", tried to reconsideration about the characteristics of the thought and practice of Motoori Norinaga and other kokugaku scholars. In recent years, as the main focus of research has shifted to the Meiji period, interest of many researchers has focused on the Confucianism, which played an important role in the reception of Western thought. As a result, while many historical records have been discovered and progress has been made in neighboring studies, research on Kokugaku political thought has remained stagnant. This research project attempted to reconstruct a general historical picture of kokugaku thought centering on Motoori Norinaga, and paying particular attention to the latest research results in neighboring fields that can be applied to political science.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
