Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study analyzed the impact of the National Industrial Exhibitions held in the Meiji period on the movement and concentration of people involved in arts and crafts, and examined the relationship between the formation of the art system and the transformation of urban space. A database on the addresses of people involved in arts and crafts and the locations of related industries was constructed based on materials related to the exposition. Based on the information in these databases, I analyzed migration patterns. In addition, through a survey of materials related to the 1939 New York Exposition in the U.S., examples of urban development and infrastructure improvement were verified. In this way, the impact of the exposition on the cultural space and social network of the city was analyzed from multiple perspectives.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
