Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study was to develop a Japanese version of a group PCIT program to support parenting in local communities for the prevention of child abuse and maltreatment. 11 pairs of subjects (parents and children) participated in the program (mean age of caregivers 34.3 years, SD=3.97; mean age of children 21 .0 months, SD=8.98). The results showed a decrease in children's problem behaviors and caregivers' parenting stress. In addition, caregivers reported an improvement in the parent-child relationship and a recovery in their confidence in child rearing. The program is to be implemented in local public institutions in the future and is planned to continue as preventive support at the community level.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
