Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In FY2023, I was a coauthor on four submitted journal papers (Chan et al. 2024, MNRAS, 527, 6253; Holloway et al. 2024, MNRAS, 530, 1297; Di et al. arXiv:2312.02140; Jaelani et al. 2024 arXiv:2312.07333).
I primarily worked on the TDCOSMO project to measure the Hubble Constant (H0) using strong gravitational lens time delays. I am leading the cosmological inference from the lens WGD 2038-4008, which will be submitted for publication within the next month. Our results will be incorporated into an upcoming TDCOSMO milestone paper, presenting the most accurate measurement of H0 from time delay lenses to date. I am also working on modeling of several other future lenses in the TDCOSMO sample (DESJ0029, J0924, J1721).
I am a co-chair of the Hyper Suprime Cam SSP Strong Lensing working group. We are discovering many new lenses in the HSC SSP, including a recent search with machine learning techniques (Jaelani et al. 2024). I also supervised a student, Yuichiro Ishida, to develop a convolutional neural network (CNN) to improve searches for lenses in HSC data by subtracting the light from the lens galaxy. He will be submitting a publication on his work after the internal review from the HSC collaboration, which is currently taking place.
