Outline of Annual Research Achievements

We demonstrated a novel on-chip biosensor, which is composed of a silicon nanodisk array that tailors a chiral field to significantly increase the interaction between the excitation light and chiral molecules via exploiting a dark mode. Specifically, we used the array with pairs of chemical and biological enantiomers to show >100x enhanced chiral light-molecule interaction with negligible artifacts for ROA measurements.

We demonstrated a novel on-chip chiral biosensor based on superchiral-field-enhanced Raman optical activity as we initially planned.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

Based on the on-chip chiral biosensor based on Raman optical activity we developed in this fiscal year, we will further explore its practical applications in various research fields.

Causes of Carryover

Due to the COVID-19, some article costs and travel expenses could not be used as my previous plan. I will rearrange and use this incurring
amount in the next fiscal year to help further accelerate the progress of this research project.
