Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, the actual conditions of traffic accidents involving vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists were investigated. In addition, the kinematic behavior of vulnerable road users who collided with a car was clarified and injury metrics for each part of the whole body were discussed. The study confirmed from both accident data and crash simulations that serious brain injuries can occur in collisions between pedestrians, bicyclists, and four-wheeled vehicles, even in collisions with windshields, which are considered to have high head protection performance, when the collision speed is high.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
