Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The research aimed to investigate cyclodextrin (CD) based metal-organic framework for CO2 capture application. Utilization of a high-power probe sonicator improved the characteristics with a surface area of 1457 m2/g. The kinetic results confirmed that both α and β-cyclodextrin MOFs capture CO2 via combined chemisorption and physisorption. While, α-cyclodextrin MOF exhibit a perfect fitting with the pseudo-first-order model with a higher correlation coefficient, confirming a pronounced physisorption. Irrespective of very low sorption by α-cyclodextrin MOF β-cyclodextrin MOFs exhibited a 1.7 mmol/g CO2 sorption. The PEI impregnation of different polymer chain lengths did not improve CO2 sorption significantly because of pore blockage with the relatively larger PEI molecular weights.
