Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
We have successfully fabricated Fe-based amorphous/nanocrystalline alloys which have high saturation magnetization, high permeability and low coercivity. The low temperature pre-annealing introduces nanocrystalline into the as cast amorphous which prevents coarse grains and avoids the difficult high-temperature controlling. Cryogenic thermal cycling (CTC) was carried on the pre-annealed amorphous/nanocrystalline alloys to modify the structure and soft magnetic properties. We have got basically first effect of the CTC process by confirmed from TEM analysis, that is inducing structural disordering, the specific performance is refining of crystalline grains. The induced crystalline from pre-annealing process was transformed to amorphous structure after CTC process. Excellent magnetic properties like, high saturation magnetization, high effective permeability and low coercivity were obtained in the Fe-based alloys after the CTC process.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
The designed high Fe-content amorphous alloy and proceed nanocrystalline/amorphous were successfully fabricated. We also realized cryogenic thermal cycling effects on the designed alloys and get one mechanism of this effect. The effect driven by the thermal shear stress is attributed to intrinsic non-uniformity of the disordered structure giving a non-uniform coefficient of thermal expansion.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
We will design different heat treatments and cryogenic thermal cycling process to discuss different effects of CTC on the structure and properties. We will discuss the effect of CTC on different Fe-based nanocrystalline/amorphous alloy system. The soft magnetic properties could be further improve.
