2021 Fiscal Year Research-status Report

Feeding regulation in jellyfish

Research Project

Project/Area Number 20K15838
Research InstitutionTohoku University

Principal Investigator

Thoma Vladimiros  東北大学, 生命科学研究科, 助教 (90796046)

Project Period (FY) 2020-04-01 – 2023-03-31
KeywordsJellyfish / Cnidarian / Feeding / Appetite / Drosophila / Neuropeptide / Evolution
Outline of Annual Research Achievements

An article with results from this project was submitted to an international scientific journal. At the request of the reviewers, additional experiments were performed:
_Further behavioral characterization of several jellyfish neuropeptides.
_Single molecule fluorescence in situ hybridization (smFISH) experiments to characterize the expression patterns of selected neuropeptides in jellyfish.
_Further immunohistochemical staining and signal quantification of GLWamide neuropeptide expression in jellyfish neurons.
_Bioinformatic analyses to identify homologs of GLWamide in non-jellyfish species.

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.

Reason

The review and revision process has been slow, in part die to delayed responses from the editors/reviewers and because of multiple revision rounds.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

I will continue to revise the article as per the reviewer/editor requests.

Causes of Carryover

Additional experiments will need to be carried out as per the reviewer/editor requests.
