Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, we investigated the microRNA expression that confers characteristic properties to early-stage signet-ring cell carcinoma and its mechanism of action. We reported that high expression of miR-99a-5p were observed in patients with gastric signet-ring cell carcinoma, especially in patients with early-stage. We also found that miR-99a-5p expression was associated with cancer cell proliferation. Therefore, miR-99a-5p may be useful as a biomarker to diagnose early-stage signet-ring cell carcinoma, lymph node metastasis, or associated poor prognosis in patients.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
