Outline of Final Research Achievements

Physicians' and medical students' emotions can influence their performance in practice and training; however, there has been no research on learners' emotions in Japanese medical education. The aim of this study was to collect validity evidence of the Japanese version of the Medical Education Emotion Scale (J-MES) developed by Nomura et al. and to examine whether the J-MES can be used in Japanese medical education in using Kane's framework of validity arguments. The research was conducted in three educational settings: 1) undergraduate medical education, 2) postgraduate medical education, and 3) clinical training developed in response to to COVID-19 pandemic. The results showed that sufficient evidence was collected in all settings and J-MES can be used to study trainees' emotions in medical education in Japan.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
