Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
We have finished conducting a qualitative study about the formation and significance of spiritual health among the elderly population in Okikamuro island, Yamaguchi, Japan. We conducted semi-structured interviews among 14 elderly residents on the island and analyzed the data through an interpretative phenomenological approach. Spiritual health is formed by an elderly-centered society and health decline associated with aging.

Reason
The study in Okikamuro island, Yamaguchi prefecture, went smoothly. Though we approached 24 elderly residents, only 14 agreed to participate in our study. Ten residents could not participate in the study due to failure to meet the inclusion criteria or having conflicts with the schedule.
