Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study examines young adult females with mild hallux valgus to analyze changes in the anterior-posterior and vertical components of the toes and metatarsal heads during walking. A new gait analysis method is proposed to improve toe movement interventions and assessments. Study 1 found that individuals with a larger hallux valgus angle had delayed peak times in the anterior-posterior and vertical components of the floor reaction force vector. Study 2 showed high cross-correlation coefficients for the anterior-posterior direction in each gait cycle segment. Subjects with a larger hallux valgus angle maintained high coefficients even before stopping, while those with a smaller angle had coefficients between 0.4 and 0.7. These findings suggest that larger hallux valgus angles delay foot control timing and complicate forefoot control during push-off.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
