Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Quantitative research was done to validate the existence of the affective component of perceived tourism impact. It was found that affective tourism impacts had stronger influences on residents' attitudes than cognitive tourism impacts. The results were reported at an international conference and printed as a chapter in a proceeding book.
In addition, fieldwork and netnography research were implemented to identify the causes and effects of the negative affective impacts of tourism on Japanese people. It was found that the coping strategies were only situational and temporal. The outcomes were published in an academic journal.
