Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In the 7 months of the grant period (April 2020-October 2020), a preliminary survey was conducted from 17th-24th September with the help of research assistants in Bangladesh. The aim was to understand the administrative structure of the Kutupalong Refugee camp and the major issues faced by the Rohingya society according to the CIC(Camp-in-charge). From the preliminary survey, it was found that there there is a lack of learning centres for children and girls above the age of 10 tend to not attend these learning centres due to the purdah system. There are centres that focus specifically on gender based violence issues, however such centres were not established in every camp. Other than this, under age marriages were a major concern in the camps.
