Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Protein-based therapeutics face denaturation and aggregation issues during development and manufacturing, requiring isolation from stabilizing agents for effective creation, transportation, and storage. Simple, denaturation-free removal is critical. Self-assembled micelles protect proteins from stresses and can be easily separated via ultracentrifugation, stabilizing proteins while retaining their properties. This is the first study demonstrating a micellar system for protein stabilization, potentially enabling the development of off-the-shelf protein-based products that do not require low-temperature storage, and can be used for protein purification, processing, and recombinant protein production.
