Outline of Annual Research Achievements

磁気リコネクションでは、プラズマアウトフローの流速度が磁場強度に比例するアルフベン速度vAまで加速され、強磁場プラズマ中ではvA がほぼ光速となるため、相対論的なリコネクションによる粒子加速がおこる。この相対論的磁気リコネクションの基礎実験として、2つのキャパシタコイルターゲット (CCT) に高出力激光XII号レーザーを照射する事によって得られるkT 級の反平行準定常強磁場を用いた磁気リコネクション実験を行ない、加速されたイオンのエネルギースペクトル解析を行った。また、PICシミュレーションコードを開発して、磁場強度やイオン密度の関数として加速イオンスペクトルの時間発展を求め、実験結果との比較・検討を行った。さらに、中国上海光机所の神光IIレーザーを用いて、激光XII号とレーザー照射配位やレーザーパラメータを変えてリコネクション実験を行なった。
相対論的臨界密度程度のプラズマに高強度レーザーを入射すると、励起されるワイベル不安定性によって数 10 kT の自己生成乱流磁気島が発生する。この乱流磁気島による荷電粒子の相対論的磁気リコネクション加速の予備実験として、ワイベル不安定性によって生成されるフィラメント構造(ワイベルフィラメント)の時間・空間発展を理化学研究所の自由電子レーザー(XFEL)を用いたX線小角散乱 (SAXS) によって計測するための基礎実験を行った。本年は、ワイベルフィラメントを模擬した直径 0.5 um、間隔 1.0 umのロッド集合体ターゲットにXFELを照射し、従来SAXS信号の0次光と低次の散乱光を遮断するために設置されていたビームストップを、3枚のアルミフィルターを組み合わせたステップフィルターに置き換えた。これにより、低次散乱光の時間発展が計測でき、長時間にわたるプラズマ膨張計測が可能となった。

Reason

激光XII号レーザーと2つのキャパシタコイルターゲットを用いたkT級の準定常強磁場中の磁気リコネクション実験では、PICシミュレーションコードを開発し、磁場や加速イオンスペクトルの時間発展を求め、実験結果との比較・検討を行った。
高強度レーザーを用いた乱流磁気島による磁気リコネクション加速実験では、高強度レーザーを用いてワイベル不安定性を励起し、生成される乱流フィラメント構造の時間・空間発展をXFELを用いたX線小角散乱 (SAXS) によって計測するための基礎実験を行っている。理化学研究所の高強度レーザーをロッド集合体ターゲットに照射し、SAXSによってプラズマ膨張にともなうスペクトルの時間発展を計測する予定であったが、高強度レーザーに予期せぬプレパルスが発生したため、高強度レーザーショットを行うことができなかった。そこで、従来SAXS信号の0次光を遮断するために設置されていたビームストップを、3枚のアルミフィルターを組み合わせたステップフィルターに置き換え、0次光を含むすべての散乱光スペクトルを計測するシステム構築に成功した。これにより、長時間にわたるプラズマ膨張計測が可能となった。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

kT級の準定常強磁場中の磁気リコネクション実験では、高出力nsパルスレーザーの激光XII号で生成された磁場構造を、高強度psパルスレーザーのLFEXを用いたプロトンバックライト計測で明らかにする。
高強度レーザーを用いた乱流磁気島による荷電粒子の磁気リコネクション加速実験ではインド タタ基礎物理研究所のTIFR500TWレーザーを薄膜ターゲットに照射する事によってワイベル不安定性を励起する。生成される乱流磁場およびフィラメント構造の詳細な時間・空間発展を、プロープレーザーによるコットン・ムートン計測(TIFR500TW)によって明らかにする。
