Study on postcritical homo-transition mechanism for zero hysteresis and innovation of multiferroic shape-change materials

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

強磁性形状記憶合金を対象に,固相超臨界状態における相変移の解明,機能発現,およびそれによる革新的機能変換材料の創成を行い,併せて,センサーやアクチュエータとしての複合材料の開発を行った.主な対象はNiFeCoGaとNiMnGa合金である.NiFeCoGa合金から微小単結晶を切り出し圧縮試験を行った結果,[111]と[110]方位では変態ヒステリシスが見られるが,[001]方位では温度上昇に伴いヒステリシスが減少し,353Kで消失する現象を確認した.さらに,引張試験と超音波測定で弾性挙動を測定した結果,母相オーステナイト相とマルテンサイト相が相転移近傍温度で強く非線形の弾性応答を示すことが明らかになった.これらについて,ランダウエネルギーにおけるパラメータの温度変化を表現するエネルギーマップを明示することができた.超臨界状態の変形が,ポストクリティカルホモ遷移で期待される試料全体で均一に起こることを確かめるため,デジタル画像相関法DICで変形中の歪分布を求める計画とし,試験片の量的問題からチタン基形状記憶合金で室温での手法を確立できた.しかし,用いたNiFeGaCo単結晶が室温では通常の相変態を示し,ホモ変態の観察には高温評価が必要であり,合金組成の再検討や高温直接観察法の確立が必要であった.疲労や挙動や新物質探求については,疲労では予想に近い結果が得られたものの,単結晶が比較的軟らかく,通常の弾性域内での転位運動による疲労は注意の必要がある.新材料ではNiMnInGe,NiMnSn等を研究し,Ni-Ti合金では従来の応力誘起相変態ではない現象を見出した.画期的センサー・アクチュエータの開発では,巨大磁歪と巨大発生力を有するラミネートコンポジットを考案し,さらに国際共同研究で巨大電気-磁気カップリング効果を持つ複合材料などを開発した.
