Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The educational significance of promoting the development of children's social and emotional skills from early childhood to prevent school crises such as bullying and to enhance children's ability to live effectively has been recognized both domestically and internationally. However, there is scarce evidence on the developmental outline of emotional literacy, which underpins these support measures. This study has continuously explored how abilities and skills to understand others' emotions are acquired, focusing on the developmental outline of these capacities through nonverbal communication such as "facial expressions" and "voice." We have created a database with audiovisual stimuli representing basic emotions like joy and anger, using professional child actors and actors. We have analyzed developmental changes from infancy to adulthood and have shared the findings through papers and academic conferences.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
いじめなどの学校危機を予防するために社会情緒能力の育成について、実証的な研究はほとんどなされていない。本研究では幼児期から成人までコミュニケーションにおけるノンバーバルな手がかりからの感情理解の発達アウトラインを明らかにすることであるが、挑戦的研究として学術的意義が高い。近年、ソーシャルエモーショナルラーニングという教育的フレームワークが重視されるとともに、OECDや文部科学省においても社会情緒的能力の育成が重視されている。本研究でのエビデンスとして、すでに幼児、高校生を対象とした研究は学術雑誌にも成果を発表しており、学校危機予防の支援へ活用できる可能性が高く社会的意義も大きいと考えられる。
