Outline of Annual Research Achievements

電流誘起の新奇なフェルミオロジーの展開が本研究の目的である。反対称スピン軌道相互作用による特徴的なフェルミ面の性質をドハース・ファンアルフェン効果から微視的に明らかにすることが重要なポイントである。そのために、空間反転対称性の敗れた結晶構造に着目して、さまざまな物質探索を行った。このうちハーフホイスラー型の結晶構造を持つUPt5については、チョクラルスキー法により純良単結晶育成に成功し、ドハース・ファンアルフェン効果の観測に成功した。大きくスピン分裂した球状のホールフェルミ面を観測した。バンド計算との比較でも良い一致を示し、UPt5のフェルミ面の全体像を明らかにした。振動数の角度依存性は、2つに分裂した振動数以外に、その間にたくさんの振動数が検出された。これは、対称性を反映した2つの軌道の縮退点と偶然縮退した点が複雑に絡み合った軌道交差現象であることを明らかにした。サイクロトロン有効質量は29m0までのものが観測されており、重い電子状態を反映している。 さらに、新奇スピン三重項超伝導体UTe2のホール効果、熱電能測定を国際共同研究に基づいて行った。磁場を困難軸方向のb軸に加えたときに、メタ磁性転移で劇的に電子状態が変化することを明らかにした。さらにUTe2の単結晶育成において、NaCl/KClによるフラックス法により超高純度単結晶育成に成功した。残留抵抗比RRRは200から800であり、UPt3にも匹敵する純良単結晶である。この超高純度単結晶を用いて、UTe2の量子振動効果(ドハース・ファンアルフェン効果)の観測に世界で初めて成功した。準二次元的な2種類のフェルミ面が、実験と理論計算によって明らかにされた。電子の有効質量は、32-58m0と重い電子状態を形成していることを明らかにした。またU4+とU3+の混合価数状態になっていることがわかった。
