3D imaging technology caving into the real object instead of sticking on its surface

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

不透明な実物の奥にめり込んで,浮遊3D像を提示することができれば,多くの応用が開けることは言うまでもない.本研究では,立体視の要因をほぼ満足できるアーク3D表示やDFD表示を用いて,実物の奥に浮遊3D像を感じさせることができる可能性を探っていくことを目的とする.
1.アーク3D表示は,連続的な運動視差を有しているため,これを実物の奥に感じさせることができる条件の確立を目指す.まず,数10 cm程度の近距離において,頭部やアーク3D基板を動かすことにより,実物の奥に知覚可能とできることが分かった.これをさらに拡大し,数m以上と遠く離れたアーク3D像においても,頭部やアーク3D基板を動かし,かつ観察方法を工夫することにより,実物の奥にめり込んで3D像を知覚させることができることを明らかにした.
2.DFD表示では,3D像の前後に実際の表示面があるため,実物の奥に感じさせ易いことが予想され,その条件の確立を目指す.DFD像を実物の奥に感じさせるには,前後の表示面を実物の奥に感じさせられればよい.表示面を遠距離に知覚させるための提示方法として,光学的な遠距離像の形成だけでは困難だが,部分透過ミラーなどにより光学系そのものを見えにくくすることで,表示面を遠距離に感じさせられることを明らかにした.さらに,表示面や頭部を動かすと,より実物の奥に感じ易くなることも分かった.
3.種々の応用において,アーク3D像とDFD像を,近距離から遠距離まで提示可能とすることが必要であり,奥行き範囲の拡大を目指す.アーク3D表示の円弧状線刻の半径と照明角度の最適化により,奥行き範囲を大幅に拡大できることを明らかにした.DFD表示方式においても,単眼運動視差により,奥行き範囲を数m以上に拡大できることを明らかにした.
以上,浮遊3D像を,実物の奥に感じさせることができる具体的な方法を新たに見出すことができた.
