| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The research is in the process of creating a first document to submit it with publishing purpose in an international journal. This document analyzes the first research results related to the potential impact of educational quality at the tertiary level on the main indicators of democracy. Specifically, using data on the geolocation of more than 30,000 universities worldwide, university quality rankings, and the Freedom House indicator, we investigate the presence of robust impacts of higher education over democracy at country level.
Additionally to the primary expected analysis, we are investigating whether there are possible spatial externalities across countries. In other words, we look for the possibility that democracy in a country is affected by democracy in their neighbors. This effect complements the potential impact of education quality over democracy.
Regarding the achievements, up to now, we were able to successfully built the primary dataset by identifying the geolocation of more than 30 000 universities across the globe, the rank of universities along the last 10 years, and some democracy indicators. These dataset will allow us to obtain our first document after a proper econometric analysis.

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
The project is slightly delayed for the following reasons:
1. Dataset collection of universities worldwide (about 30 000).
2. Geolocation of universities worldwide (about 30 000).
3. Dataset collection of democracy indicators.
4. For the second step of the analysis, we will require dataset at subnational level; for that purpose, we are on the process of data collection of democracy indicators at subnational level.

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
With the objective of complete our research, the research agenda is composed by the following activities:
1. Complete the analysis for the first research paper of democracy and education quality at country level.
2. Write the first paper and present it among experts for receiving feedbacks.
3. Collect and analyze the data of democracy at subnational level. Second, analyze the econometric analysis at subnational level.
4. Write the second paper and submit our research papers on academic conferences.

| Causes of Carryover |
This coming fiscal year, we plan to use the remaining amount in: 1. Buy the subscription for one year for some supporting software such as Overleaf, database access, Grammarly, and so on. 2. Pay for the Teacher Assistant for database collection. 3. Paper English correction. 4. Conference presentations. 5. Paper submission.
