Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
I examined the effect of autistic traits on the formation of color-shape associations by explicit questionnaire survey and implicit behavioral tasks. Through an online questionnaire survey, I found that participants with higher AQ scores have fewer of the consensual color-taste, and shape-color associations. Statistical learning with a reduced prior knowledge effect in participants with higher AQ scores may lead to these results. Through two behavioral performance tasks, I observed that people with higher AQ scores show stronger congruency effect of circle-red and triangle-yellow associations. These results are opposite to the hypothesis. Color-shape associations may be partially explained by structural correspondence hypothesis.
