Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In order to clarify the structural characteristics of the main halls of early modern temples in Japan, detailed data such as the diameter of columns, the spacing between columns, the overhang of eaves, the height of eaves, the dimensions of rafters, the slope of eaves, and the slope of roofs were collected from repair work reports and field surveys, and a comparative analysis of structure and form was conducted, as well as a comparative study with a book on wood division techniques from the early modern period. As a result, it became clear that early modern temple and shrine architecture, which has been said to have lost its architectural individuality, used unique planning methods for each building, even though they had approximate proportional relationships.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
