Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This project investigated the effects of local energetics at photocatalyst/cocatalyst interfaces. Based on the analysis, this project also optimized the loading of cocatalysts for improving the photocatalytic activities.
Analyses based on transient absorption spectroscopy and typical electrochemical measurements revealed that coloading two kind of cocatalysts for hydrogen and oxygen evolution perturbed the energetics in photocatalyst, suppressed charge separation and thus decreased the photocatalytic activities. The proposed local electrochemical measurements based on scanning electrochemical-atomic force microscopies were applied, but the photocatalyst, Y2Ti2O5S2, as a sulfide-containing material, was destructive the sensor composed of Pt and so reliable results were not obtained.
