Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Lymph nodes are important organ for antigen-specific antibody production. However, because fish do not possess lymph nodes, the mechanism of induction of antibody production is unknown. Therefore, it has been an obstacle to the development of effective vaccines against fish disease. In this study, we aimed to identify the sites where specific antibodies are produced in fish.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究により、魚類では免疫応答の際にB細胞やT細胞の集塊が形成され、そこで抗原に特異的な抗体が産生されるという、魚類における抗体産生メカニズムの一端が明らかになった。 今後、この場に注目して研究をすることで、魚類の抗体産生メカニズムの解明が進むことが期待される。 抗体産生メカニズムの解明は、効果的に抗体産生を刺激するワクチンや、ワクチンアジュバントの開発、免疫賦活効果をもつ物質の探索研究に有益な情報につながると考えられる。
