Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
First, we obtained ethical research approval from the Research Ethics Committee, Graduate School of Medicine, The University of Tokyo. Second, we recruited research collaborators from more than 15 countries.Third, we developed the study data collection instruments (two questionnaires) in English language and validated them by expert researchers and clinicians nationally and internationally. Fourth, we translated the study questionnaires into each participating country's local language (more than 10 translations).

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
The conduct of our study is a little bit beyond the estimated timeline because of two reasons.
1. Delay in recruitting research collaborators. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, researchers and practitioers worldwide are overwhelmed. We found that many researchers are interrested in participating in this study, but they declined due to the lack of time. Moreover, many researchers have declined to participate in the study because healthcare professionals in long-term care facilities are under pressure due to wokload.
2. Delay in obtaining ethical approval. The process of obtaing ethical approval for the data collection differs across and within countries. In some countries it takes only a few days, while in other countries it takes months. We can not start data collection in any country until we get ethical/administrative approval according to the local regulations in each country.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
1. Obtaining research ethics approval from each participating country. 2. Creating the online questionnaire (converting the paper-based questionnaire into online questionnaire because data collection will be conducted primarily using online forms). 3. Data collection. 4. Data analysis. 5. Reporting of results (Manuscript writting and publication; presentation is national and international conferences).

Causes of Carryover |
We did not utilize the estimated money becauset the conduct of our study is a little bit beyond the estimated timeline. This delay is due to 2 reasons. 1. Delay in recruitting research collaborators because most reserchers and healthcare professionals are overwhelmed by the impacts of COVID-19. 2. Delay in the data collection. The process in some countries is delayed. We can not start data collection in any country until we get ethical/administrative approval according to the local regulations in each country.
