Research Abstract |
We have proven that cohesion at the core centromere defines mono-orientation of kinetochores. We show that chiasmata between homologous chromosomes ensure mono-orientation. We identified the kinase antagonizing shugoshin-PP2A. We further identified the inner centromere-shugoshin (ICS) network that is critical for chromosome segregation and the conserved regulatory mechanism of shaping chromosomes.
