Research Abstract

The aim of this study is to elucidate atmospheric formation of toxic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) derivatives on the surface of Asian dust particles transported from the Asian Continent to Japan and to evaluate adverse health effects induced by the compounds. We performed chemical reaction experiments of PAHs on the Asian dust particle surface using a reaction-chamber, and investigated the formation of substituted PAHs on the particles.
