Research Abstract |
Iron uptake from the soil in plants is a crucial event for all living creatures. Graminaceous plants have developed a specific strategy based on the phytosiderophores, mugineic acids. We identified transporters in barley and synthesis the mugineic acids derivatives as molecular probes. These studies are essential for further biological studies, and will hopefully lead to better crop production.
