Research Abstract

彗星は、原始太陽系円盤内で塵（ダスト）が付着成長することによって形成された微惑星の生き残りであると考えられている。観測技術の飛躍的な進歩により、近年、世界各国で詳細な赤外線スペクトル観測によって、彗星から放出されたダストの熱放射が捉えられてきた。これら赤外線スペクトルデータを意義あるものにするためには、データに正しい解釈を与えなければならない。これにより赤外線スペクトルデータは彗星及び微惑星の形成・進化を理解する上で重要な役割を果たすことができる。
本研究の具体的な目的は、彗星ダストの変成に着目し、サブミクロン粒子凝集体ダストモデルを用い赤外線スペクトルと彗星の進化との関係を明確化することである。本研究課題は４つのプロジェクト（①光散乱のモデル化、②力学進化のモデル化、③衝突現象のモデル化、④熱放射のモデル化）として遂行される。
平成２４年度の研究では、サブミクロン粒子凝集体塵の熱放射をモデル化し、彗星ダストマントルの進化を理解することを目標とした（プロジェクト④）。これまでのモデル化①～③に基づいて④熱放射のモデル化を行なうために、具体的には、プロジェクト③によって決定された塵の物理パラメータ（サイズ・圧縮空隙率）を用いて熱放射の計算を行なうためのデータベース構築をはじめた。さらに、プロジェクト③によって決定された塵の物理パラメータから、彗星核表面で形成する「ダストマントル」と呼ばれる層に降り積る塵の熱伝導度を見積もった。これによって、ダストマントルを形成するサブミクロン粒子凝集体塵のサイズおよびフラクタル次元に制約を加える事ができたことは、ダストマントルの形成および進化を理解する上で非常に大きな成果である。

国内・国外の関連する研究者に始原的天体・塵の物質進化を議論する場を提供し知識の集約を図る目的で企画した国際会議を継続するとともに、得られたデータの公開を推進し、国内・国外の関連する研究者からのフィードバックを得ることで、本研究課題の今後のさらなる推進を見込む予定である。
