Research Abstract |
Low-dimensional metals fabricated on solid surfaces often exhibit peculiar properties due to electron-electron, electron-lattice, and Rashba-type spin-orbit interaction. In this research work, we have discovered various types of Rashba spin-polarized electronic states on low-dimensional metals on semiconductor surfaces, which will be the basis for coming spintronic technology. We also found that a metal-insulator phase transition in an indium monolayer on silicon surface undergoes via pseudo-first-order transition.
