プロトン性配位子/金属アルコキシド系触媒を用いるアルコール化学変換の新展開

Research Abstract

様々な金属アルコキシド錯体L_nNa(OR),L_nCu(OR),L_nRh(OR),L_nRu(OR)種が、アルコールの触媒的化学変換において、廃棄物ゼロエミッション型の反応(主たる廃棄物が水、あるいは無し)に有効であることを見出した。これら金属アルコキシド触媒が、2種の異なるアルコール間の脱水的C-C結合形成に高活性を示すことを見出した。触媒回転数は最高で2000程度である。それらの反応機構において、MPV型反応過程が極めて重要であるという新知見を得た。すなわち100年来信じられてきた遷移金属ヒドリド種に基づく"Borrowing Hydrogen"反応機構が実は必ずしも主ではないことを証明した点は、今後、アルコールを(擬)求電子剤として活用するための新戦略を練る上で、極めて重要な発見である。(2)Cs(OR)種とアルコール、CH_2Cl_2、およびCO_2(1atm)を用いる炭酸エステルの合成法を達成した。そのなかに、熱反応でのみ進行する協奏的な反応過程が含まれることを発見した。今後省エネルギー型炭酸エステル合成へと展開するうえで重要な発見といえる。(3)アルコールを真の求電子剤として用い、アミンの脱水的N-アルキル化を達成した。このS_N型反応にFeBr_3/アミノ酸触媒が有効であることを見出した。アルコールを求電子剤として用いるため、その活性化には強酸が必要だと考えられてきたが、実はそうではない。触媒構造の精密な分子デザインがもたらす中性から若干の塩基性のpH反応条件下でも触媒作用が発現することを証明した。弱酸と弱塩基に基づく触媒設計によって可能となる、「より中性pH」の優位性を難解な化学反応で示したといえる。遷移状態では効果的な水素結合ネットワークが形成され、水素移動が円滑に進行したと想定できる。
