Research Abstract

我々の発見した、固有ジョセフソン接合巨大スタックからのテラヘルツ放射新条件において、結晶内での電磁波励起パターンを低温レーザー顕微鏡で観測することに成功し、PRL誌に発表した。平成21年度は、この新条件において、励起電磁波パターンと放射されるテラヘルツ波の強度・スペクトラムを同一の結晶において観測することに成功し、目下、第2報としてPRL誌に投稿中である。そこで明らかとなったのは、結晶内での電磁波が形成する定在波の様式が従来の報告と90°異なることである。テラヘルツ発振機構の白紙からの見直しが必要であることが裏付けられた。さらに、結晶中心付近に現れる"HOT-SPOT"、即ち超伝導遷移温度以上に発熱している部分がバイアス電流に依存して大きさを変え、それに伴い定在波パターンの形が変わることで発振周波数が変化することが見いだされた。この発見は、発振メカニズムの解明に肉薄する貴重な知見であるとともに、この素子がデザインを変えることなく、周波数可変の発振器として利用できることを示したもので、応用上重要な知見である。さらにファブリペロー共鳴箱を搭載して、強度の向上を図っている。
