Research Abstract |
We have proposed and developed a novel Mach-Zehnder optical modulator using a large electric field induced refractive index change in special ultrathin semiconductor films and a phase shift enhancement effect in microring resonators. As a result, we succeeded in realizing a very low driving voltage optical modulator due to the synergy between the above two effects.
