Research Abstract |
Anharmonic and large-amplitude vibrational modes in biological macro-molecules are thought to be important for their functions and interaction with other molecules, governing the thermo-dynamical the properties. To observe such molecular vibrations in terahertz(THz) frequency region, a novel coherent Raman technique(THz Time-Domain Coherent Raman Spectroscopy), which utilizes THz optical beats created by two frequency-chirped femtosecond pulses and detects the coherent Raman signal in time-domain, has been developed and applied to some non-organic samples for demonstration.
