Research Abstract |
In this research project, to elucidate plant basal resistance mechanisms against plant pathogenic fungi, modification of cell surface structure of pathogen and its involvement of recognition and signaling network leading to plant defense response was analyzed. Especially, using rice-rice blast fungus and Arabidopsis thaliana. anthracnose fungus system, signaling network downstream of pathogen recognition was extensively analyzed based on genome based approach. Manipulation of pivotal transcription factor involving disease resistance enabled us to generate disease resistant transgenic rice plants.
