Research Abstract |
In this study, we examined variety of social movements against exclusion and deprivation in order to shed light on the dynamics of rapid changes occurring in rural South Asia under the condition of globalization, as well as to construct a new analytic perspective on social movements and development in the Third World. Through a series of seminars we discussed and evaluated strengths and limitations of various analytic tools, including those provided by Actor-Network Theory, examining there utility not only for understanding South Asian cases but also for Japanese cases.
