Research Abstract |
This study conducted randomized experiments on cash transfers conditional on antenatal care take-up and information about antenatal care among pregnant women in rural areas in northern Nigeria. Although conditional cash transfer caused a temporal increase in antenatal care take-up, information intervention decreased subsequent take-up. Although antenatal care take-up did not alter miscarriage/fetal death, choice of delivery places, health problems in delivery, babies' mortality/morbidity, or postnatal care take-up, it increased babies' vaccination and this was especially so for take-up in late stage.
