Research Abstract |
The purpose of the study was to explore further practical psychological supports for sport teams' performance enhancement and demonstration of their ability at the important competitions. This longitudinal and empirical study, which lasted for five years, revealed followings: 1) the impact of collective-efficacy and team-cohesion upon athletes' psychological factors, which may contribute to performance enhancement and 2) the importance of team building sessions in addition to an individual counselling in terms of psychological support for a whole team. As these notable findings suggest, 3)encouraging team building sessions, more specifically, a structured group encounter session with sport psychological training skills plays a significant role in sport counselling. The effectiveness of the program has been confirmed through applications to Japanese national team or various teams, which competes in international levels.
