Research Abstract |
Mechanism of glucose uptake induced by passive stretch stimulation(stretch) in skeletal muscle was investigated. Our results suggest that stretch is accepted by integrin/FAK and causes Ca^<2+> release from sarcoplasmic reticulum, resulting increase in glucose uptake through CaMKII activation. Our results also suggest that stretch-induced glucose uptake involves insulin-and contraction-independent pathways.
