Research Abstract

本研究では、石造建造物で使用されている石材や、考古遺跡における基盤岩の特徴の評価を、風化機構と風化速度に注目して行うことを目的としている。石材の耐久性に関する資質評価は、風化過程と風化速度に注目して行われることが多いため、岩石の風化の観点から研究を進めた。2009年度は、欧米における石造建築物の対象としてオーバル修道院(ベルギー)を、日本調査地点として吉見百穴(埼玉県)を、主調査地点と定め、環境モニタリング装置の設置およびデータ収集を主体的にすすめた。いずれの地点も、塩類の析出が顕著であるが、岩石そのものの劣化様式は異なる。オーバル修道院では、まず記載を重点的に行い、4つの観測地点を定めて温度・湿度のデータロガーを設置した。また、析出塩類を採取し、実験室に持ち帰り、XRDによる鉱物同定を行った。その結果、主な塩類はtheaardite(Na_2SO_4)であることが判明した。吉見百穴では、既に設置してあるデータロガーから回収した温度・湿度結果の解析と、塩類の種類の特定、また岩屑生産量の測定をすすめた。その結果、洞穴内部ではsodium alum(NaAl_2(SO_4)_3)の析出が多く、入り口付近ではalum(Al_2(SO_4)_3)の析出量が多いこと、岩屑生産量は洞穴奥のほうが入り口付近よりも多いことが分かった。この結果は、塩類の析出量と岩屑生産量との関係が線形ではないことを意味し、詳細な塩類特定と、個別の塩類に対応した岩屑生産プロセスが存在していることを意味する。今後は、岩屑生産プロセスおよびその速度を把握し、壁面劣化への対応策を検討することが重要となる。
