Research Abstract |
This study is based on the assumption that a listener can predict words a speaker will say. This assumption was confirmed by researching various collocations via several corpuses. We also investigated the appearance of words in texts. We hypothesized that a reader could predict words that followed from types and branches of a text. We built a categorized corpus and showed some examples by comparing the frequency of words with that of larger corpuses. Applications of this research with respect to the making of German-Japanese and Japanese-German dictionaries and textbooks are discussed.
