Research Abstract |
The purpose of this paper is to clarify the commonality and difference of teacher evaluation systems in Japan, examine the characteristics of them, and make the concept of an ideal evaluation system. Though there is a slightly difference among prefectures, teacher evaluation systems have a commonality in intending to improve teachers' knowledge and competencies. In addition, it is hard to link" a teacher self-evaluation system" to" a performance review system", and the sufficient time for a meeting between a teacher and an evaluator is not secured.
