Research Abstract |
Nano-scale pores in natural minerals and rocks were investigated by positron annihilation spectroscopy combined with other porosimetric techniques as N_2 gas absorption porosimetry and small angle x-ray scattering. It was found that positron annihilation spectroscopy sensitively probes micropore less than 2 nm in diameter. The Cs diffusion coefficient through angstrom-scale inter layer spaces of saponite was evaluated to be 2. 5×10^<-8>[ cm^2s^<-1>].
