Research Abstract

There is the so called "damage control structure" that composed with elastic main frames and elasto-plastic elements to absorb energy (hysteresis dampers). The ultimate performance of steel hysteresis damper is limited by its fracture. A method of estimating the energy absorption capacity of the dampers under ground motion is investigated based on cyclic loading tests.
