Research Abstract |
I examined fossil materials of Japanese macaques (Macaca fuscata) discovered from the Quaternary deposits of Japanese archipelago. I performed morphological analyses from the point of views of geographical variation and chronological changes of craniodental morphology of Japanese macaques. The measurements were performed by using a X-ray computer tomography (CT) machine, a needle scanning system composed of a 3D plotter, and the One-shot 3D Measurement Macroscope. The obtained data were compared with the morphological data of extant/extinct macaque specimens of Eastern Asia.
